Call it a mental milestone, but completing a full kilometre of distance in the pool tonight -- despite that not being the plan even when I jumped into the water at the start of my first lap -- felt a bit like logging my first 5k run. First in a while, anyways. I've swam one kilometre before, but it's been a couple years. I hit my 750m planned distance, opted to swim a bit more to make up for the kids goofing around in the lane and slowing me up a bit, swam a couple more, then a couple more, then suddenly it was like 100m to the 1k mark and it was pretty hard not to just do it. It borks up my incremental plan, but... hey, I'm making this all up as I go anyhow.
