Neon Run (2014)

How (Not) to Run in Neon

On Saturday night, wallowing in a thin powdery layer of iridescent cornstarch and radiating in the pale phosphorescence of a dozen glow sticks, I set a new personal record: my worst five kilometer race time. Ever.

Edmonton Half (2014)

Crazy Half

August 20, 02014

Six klicks with the gang last night felt pretty solid after a couple weeks of aimless drifting and sporadic running. I almost felt as if I could pick back up and attempt this race that their all doing in a few days… maybe not the marathon …definitely not the marathon. But the half, almost.

The Dopey Challenge (2014)

Two Weeks Later, A Summary

For those just arriving at this post from a search engine — in other words, those who have not actually been following along for the last year as I trained for the 2014 Dopey Challenge in Disney World in Florida — I ran it. I ran it all. I completed it. I crossed each and every start — and finish — line, and took the photos, earned the medals, revelled in the personal glory and all wallowed in every bit that goes with it all. And… I walked away to talk about it.

Edmonton Marathon (2013)

So, I ran a marathon yesterday. My first. And I’ve been brewing the weight of that around in my head for the last 24 hours, trying to balance out a kind of bitter-sweet finish that is left behind after all the apparent fuss of the task, a follow up that needs to happen before I can get back into my everyday life.

Run Wild (2013)

My athletic interest has me running epic runs these days. I’ve run a couple of races, one for each of the last weekends:

First… a pretty little bedroom community just a gnat’s breath to the North of Edmonton, the City of St. Albert played host to the RunWild race series on May 5. I had found myself registered in the half-marathon, and had been actively maintaining my training for that race over the last few months.

Rock'n Roll Las Vegas (2012)

Running Las Vegas
Rest, Race & Rum

December 2, 02012

Race day. And for the better part of the morning I stayed off my feet and hid myself away in my hotel room. Karin took transit North to some kind of outlet mall, but after venturing out for another quick breakfast, I promptly put my pajamas back on and curled up on the bed to watch some television and rest up for the evening’s race.
