How does one chronicle an almost year-long effort to do anything and everything possible to become someone who could run an ultramarathon, fifty kilometers through wilderness trails, to tune my mind and my body into a state of preparation and readiness for such a feat, well… that is the subject of these words.

Running

Lots of distance needs to be covered before one long race is run.

Fitness

In a long race, strength and toughness are almost as important as endurance.

Food

Eating right to get to the start line, and fueling along the trail.

Motivation

The last half of the race is a mental game and the only way to win it is to face down doubts and fears before the start line is crossed.
